Episode 3: Scams and Fraud


  1. GHS will never ask for personal information via phone, text, email, social media, or chat on our site, unless you have called our member services directly.
  2. If an email comes from a business, be sure that domain (***@ghsfcu.com is our domain) is correct.
  3. Delete, do not click any links respond to the email.
  4. Verify and double check your websites, and ask the person on the other end to confirm their identity and affiliation with whatever service you are getting from them.
  5. Do a credit check once a year with the 3 credit bureaus, Equifax, Transunion and Experian. Download your report at AnnualCreditReport.com
  6. Check your online banking apps often to be sure the transactions are correct. Call your financial institution if you see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
  7. Work from a safe, protected electronic device. Wipe your device if you sell it.
  8. If you are a GHS member, ask about ID Safe Choice to aid with identity theft.
