Big Brothers Big Sisters of Notheastern Pennsylvania
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania began in Luzerne County in 1974. Since that time services have been offered in Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Annually, the program matches hundreds in a variety of services.
Since its inception in 1974, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania has strived to provide high quality mentoring services to the children and families of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters programs is provided through the various United Ways, state or federal grants, private donations and fund-raising efforts and program development.
Bradford County Action, inc.
Bradford County Action, Inc., is a private non-profit organization founded in 1966 as a community-based organization. Currently, Bradford County Action provides programs for both adults and youth which include: academic and career interest assessment, career preparation, career exploration classes, post secondary skilled classroom training, limited work experiences, on-the-job training, job search activities, enrichment and remedial classes, supportive services and summer jobs for youth. BCA provides residents of the community various opportunities in order to make their futures brighter.
Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Tioga (B/S/S/T) Counties Area Agency on Aging
Your local Area Agency on Aging is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable organization whose emphasis is to provide information, guidance, resources and services designed to help older adults age 60 and older to live independently in their home and local community. The AAOA is one stop shop and friendly face for information and connecting individuals to community supports and services. There you can find friendly staff to assist with the completion of applications, forms and other state and local services and resources.
The B/S/S/T AAOA host Active Living Centers across Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Tioga Counties. Adults 60 and over are warmly invited for social and recreational activities, and lunch with friends.
Chop out hunger
The mission of Chop Out Hunger is to create an entire generation that doesn’t know hunger through innovative and collaborative outreach partnerships. CHOP Out Hunger was founded out of a deep concern for the well-being of children facing food insecurity. The organization began when Dani Ruhf, Founder and CEO, learned from her daughter that if students didn’t have lunch money, they didn’t eat. Today, CHOP Out Hunger serves over 50,000 students weekly through The Backpack Program across 21 counties in Pennsylvania. The organization has developed a range of programs to meet the diverse needs of food-insecure children and families. The Backpack Program remains a cornerstone of their efforts, while the In-School Pantries have been implemented in numerous schools, helping to reduce the stigma associated with hunger and empowering students to self-advocate. From its humble beginnings, CHOP Out Hunger has grown into a vital community resource, driven by a passionate commitment to ending child hunger. Through its comprehensive and compassionate approach, the organization continues to make a profound impact, ensuring that every child has access to the food they need to thrive.
Futures community Support Services Inc.
Futures Community Support Services, Inc. is a private non- profit corporation founded in 1989. Futures has been a leader in Tioga, Bradford, and Sullivan Counties in creating opportunities for persons with disabilities, their families, and the service system. Futures Community Support Services, Inc. provides quality support services to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in living life to their fullest potential. Futures believes that these individuals should be part of reciprocal communities that foster respect and promote responsibility.
Maternal and Family Health Services
As a private non-profit health and human services organization, MFHS works to meet the health and nutrition needs of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s women, children, and families with information, education, and quality care.
Founded in 1971, MFHS meets the ever-changing needs of women, children, and families by providing essential and innovative programming that improves the quality of life for women, children, and families. Today, they oversee and support a network of health and nutrition centers in 17 Pennsylvania counties, serving over 100,000 women, men, and children annually through their core programs: WIC nutrition, Reproductive Health, Nurse Family Partnership, and Pregnancy Care.
River Valley Regional YMCA: Bradford County Branch
They YMCA is proud to serve their community through programs and services that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. From athletics to senior programs, camp and fitness, the Y offers a great variety of activities that help people of all ages and abilities grow strong in spirit, mind and body.
Supporting Area Families Everyday
Supporting Area Families Everyday is a safe and neutral place for parents to exchange and visit their children in a supervised setting. SAFE is staffed by trained professionals who can help ensure that the exchanges and visits are conducted peacefully and in the children's best interests.
The Children’s House Child Advocacy Center
The Children’s House’s mission is to reduce trauma to children who have experienced abuse and their families by providing a safe and supportive environment through a collaboration of community agencies. The Children’s House/Child Advocacy Center (CHCAC) is a safe place for children and families to come when there are concerns about child abuse or neglect. They provide victim support, family advocacy, medical exams, mental health and forensic interviews through a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. They minimize additional trauma to the child and family by bringing in a team of experts called the Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team (MDIT).
Towanda Area Christian Outreach (T.A.C.O.) Food Pantry
Towanda Area Christian Outreach (TACO) offers a food pantry which provides emergency food for the needs of the community. This program serves Northeast Bradford, Towanda and Wyalusing School Districts. A family will receive enough food to meet basic nutritional needs for at least a three-day period.
Trehab community action agency
The Trehab Community Action Agency is committed to act as both a service provider and an advocate for the poor, unemployed, and underemployed, the elderly, and other groups at risk. The agency is committed to serving the community as a catalyst for asset building and by helping to increase access to capital. They serve six rural counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the services available in Bradford County are: Utility Company Mediation, Utility Program Assistance, Dollar Energy Fund, Case Management, UGI Customer Assistance Program, UGI Operation Share, Homeownership Program, Affordable Housing, and Weatherization Services.

Starlight’s mission is to help everyday Americans build toward financial health. They aim to do this by building technology that modernizes the social safety net, unlocking the $140B in government benefits that goes unclaimed every year for households in need. Starlight’s platform integrates directly with GHS FCU’s banking services, automatically identifying individuals eligible for public benefits and guide them through the application process while maintaining full privacy and consent.
United Way of Bradford County
The United Way of Bradford County’s mission is to empower our neighbors to foster a healthy community through education, collaboration, advocacy and mobilization of resources in hopes of a compassionate, thriving community where all needs are met. The United Way provides funding and resources to local organizations, while also offering resources such as SingleCare prescription discount cards for people with no insurance or for medicine not covered by insurance, 211 Call Centers, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and support for ALICE ® (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) households directly to the community.
