bampa’s House

Bampa’s House is a non-profit comfort care home that provides a home-like environment for people to receive hospice care serving the Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler county areas. Bampa's House was established by the family and friends of Jim Dugan. It was first conceived after Jim's family struggled with finding an appropriate place for him to spend his final days. After he passed away, Jim's family decided that if there was any way to help others in this situation, even if it was just one or two families at a time, they would like to do so in Jim's honor.

CASA-Trinity

CASA-Trinity provides compassionate, person-centered support across prevention, treatment, recovery, and outreach throughout the Southern Tier and Western New York, including Chemung County. Their mission is to foster wellness and resilience by delivering prevention education, outpatient and inpatient treatment (including medication-assisted therapy and counseling), peer-led recovery services like Adventures in Recovery, and accessible community supports (e.g., harm-reduction tools, food assistance, and tip lines).

Catholic Charities of Chemung County

The vision of Catholic Charities is a just and poverty-free community. As an agency of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, with a deeply held belief in the dignity of all people, Catholic Charities of Chemung County works to reduce poverty, promote wellness and self-sufficiency, and advocate for social justice. Catholic Charities of Chemung County serves Chemung and Schuyler Counties with offices located in Elmira and Watkins Glen, offering resources such as food assistance, housing assistance, and youth programs.

Chemung County Chamber of Commerce

For over 120 years, the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce has been the leading voice of business, leadership, and community in the Chemung County region. Its mission is to represent the business community by promoting economic prosperity and enhancing quality of life throughout its service area. The Chamber supports businesses through member resources like a business directory, sponsorship and marketing opportunities, educational programs, and workforce development tools. It also fosters community and visitor engagement via relocation support and local guides. Chemung County Agency on Aging & Long Term Care

The mission of the Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care mission is to help Chemung County residents age together with independence, opportunity and dignity through coordinated and cost-effective policies and services that support and empower older adults, people of all ages in need of long term care, and their families and caregivers. Local Chemung County governments and representatives have committed to being an Age-Friendly Community, engaging us in an ongoing process to encourage active and healthy aging. Developing our age-friendliness provides an opportunity to enhance the wellbeing of all county residents, increase the ability of older adults to contribute to the community while reducing costly healthcare needs, and provides a marketing tool to attract and retain business and people of all ages.

Chemung County Habitat for Humanity

Chemung County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization. We build strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent and affordable home. Chemung County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1989 by a group of local citizens who believed everyone deserves a decent place to live. They came together in response to two growing concerns: the rising number of hardworking families struggling to afford safe housing, and the high percentage of rental properties in Elmira that lacked long-term investment from owners. Since then, they've partnered with more than 40 families to help them achieve the dream of homeownership, providing strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Today, Chemung County Habitat is more than a homebuilder, they're a community partner dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods, repairing and preserving homes, and expanding access to resources that help families thrive.

Chemung County Humane society and SPCA

Founded in 1891, the Chemung County SPCA is the oldest non-profit animal welfare organization in the region, and one of the oldest continuously-operating animal welfare organizations in the country. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for companion animals in Chemung County and surrounding areas by promoting better futures for pets and their people.

Meals on Wheels of Chemung County

Meals on Wheels exists to serve nutritious meals and provide a daily contact to our clients. They will provide Quality Service by compassionately serving clients who have limited resources, trying to exceed the expectations of our clients whenever possible.Volunteers deliver a hot meal or a hot lunch/cold supper between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. five days each week.  Participants who need guidance receive counseling and nutrition education.  Special diets and weekend meal packages are available for those who require them.

Community Dispute Resolution Center

CDRC offer mediation, group facilitation, conflict coaching, and training to help individuals and groups resolve conflicts in a variety of settings. With a focus on confidentiality and skill-building, these services support constructive and relational approaches to managing disputes effectively. They envision a future in which CDRC is the lead resource for nurturing constructive responses to the conflicts that inevitably occur in our communities. As a result of our work, the three counties CDRC serves are places where individuals value themselves, value others, and value relationships.

Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization classified as a publicly supported 501(c) (3) charity under the Internal Revenue Code. They are governed by a community-based, volunteer board of directors and administered by professional staff. They serve the counties of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates in the Southern Tier of New York State.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County (CCE Chemung) provides research-based programs and resources to help individuals, families, and communities thrive. Their mission is to improve lives and strengthen communities by connecting local needs with the knowledge and expertise of Cornell University. CCE Chemung offers a wide range of services, including support for agriculture and gardening, nutrition and healthy living, youth development through 4-H, and community and economic vitality programs. With workshops, events, volunteer opportunities, and educational resources, CCE Chemung is a trusted partner in building a healthier, stronger Chemung County.

CASA of the southern tier (court appointed special advocates)

CASA of Chemung County, Inc. began to form in 1988 when the New York Task Force on Permanency Planning and the Junior League of Elmira approached the Chemung County Family Court with information about the benefits to be gained through the use of CASA volunteers in Family Court. The first case was assigned in 1989. Abused and neglected children need your voice. CASA of the Southern Tier works to provide that voice by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer advocates to work with children who have been abused or neglected by their primary care provider. These volunteers work to ensure that the children they work with are able to find a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

Economic Opportunity Program

For over 53 years EOP has provided an opportunity for individuals and families to earn a decent living wage, learn to protect and save the money they earn, and provide a positive present and future for themselves and their children. Since 1965, EOP has been a multi-service organization for family success within the community. Through a combination of family development services and energy services, EOP demonstrates its commitment to the community and promotes self-sufficiency. EOP provides services that create positive change in individuals, families, and our community; and encourages and facilitates participation by all people who can help make our vision a reality.

Family Servies of Chemung County

Family Services of Chemung County provides services that foster resiliency in traumatized and hurting children, strengthen social and community supports for individuals and families, and provide hope and recovery for those battling mental illness. They offer a comprehensive suite of services, community-based outpatient mental health for all ages (including counseling, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation, medication therapy, and group or family therapy), mobile crisis response teams available 24/7, care management (Health Home services) to coordinate medical, behavioral health, and social needs, a Child Advocacy Center, home care and personalized recovery services, as well as the Compeer mentoring program linking volunteers with youth and adults to provide peer friendship support.

Food bank of the southern Tier

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is committed to creating a future without hunger where access to healthy food by all is recognized as fundamental to the well-being and success of individuals and the foundation of a strong, vibrant society. The Food Bank of the Southern Tier service area includes Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties, covering nearly 4,000 square miles. Their partnership with member agencies across our service area is crucial to the mission as they ensure the food we acquire and distribute gets to the people who need it most.

Friends of the Chemung River watershed

Friends of the Chemung River Watershed is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Chemung River and its tributaries while promoting their responsible recreational use. Their mission is to safeguard the watershed’s health and support safe outdoor enjoyment of its waterways and riverbanks. Since forming in 2009, they’ve removed tons of litter and built a network of volunteer “River Guardians” who monitor and care for the riverside. The group hosts guided paddles, hikes, educational workshops, safety training, and distributes over 200 life jackets yearly . Their vision balances environmental protection, community recreation, education, and eco-tourism, all fostering love and stewardship for the watershed.

Glove House

For more than five decades, Glove House, Inc.  has provided community-based services providing hope and help to struggling youth and their families.  Glove House is a private, not-for-profit youth advocacy organization designed to support and facilitate the development and operation of community-based prevention, mental health and educational support services, foster care services, and residential services for youth and families in need.  Glove House has established a reputation in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions of New York for creating innovative programs which utilize community resources and contain costs. Glove House programs include foster care and therapeutic foster care, independent living support, and a community residence for youth with mental health needs. Glove House also offers preventive and school-based services such as mentoring, behavior support, and family team meetings, along with mental health programs including crisis intervention, respite, peer advocacy, and a 24/7 hotline. Additional supports include care management, foster parent training, and financial assistance for families in crisis.

Mosaic of the Southern Tier is a free resource center in New York offering pregnancy testing and ultrasounds provided onsite by a partnering medical provider, options consultations, pregnancy support, aid, resources, and more. Mosaic is here to help you navigate reproductive health decisions without pressure or cost involved.

Mothers and Babies mission is to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes to support the health and development of all individuals and families. They provide education to our communities, connect individuals and families to health and other services, advocate for system improvements, and partner with other agencies, government and providers to strengthen families. Mothers and Babies focuses on every element of care, from the individual to the health care system to policymakers. Mothers and Babies philosophy is based on the concept that there are eight levels of intervention in community development to ensure successful prevention partnerships: Strengthening individual knowledge, Promoting community education, Educating providers, fostering coalitions and networks , Changing organizational practices, Influencing policy and legislation, Minimizing barriers, Ensuring that affordable and appropriate services are accessible to pregnant women, infants and all individuals and families, and Establishing public/private partnerships for coordinated community based care.

Starlight’s mission is to help everyday Americans build toward financial health. They aim to do this by building technology that modernizes the social safety net, unlocking the $140B in government benefits that goes unclaimed every year for households in need. Starlight’s platform integrates directly with GHS FCU’s banking services, automatically identifying individuals eligible for public benefits and guide them through the application process while maintaining full privacy and consent.

YWCA OF ELMIRA

The YWCA of  Elmira and the Twin Tiers has been serving our community for over 135 years. In 1914 the YWCA Elmira was established. Since then, YWCA of Elmira and the Twin Tiers programs, such as our before and after school programs, our youth programs, our Pink Boutique program, and our summer enrichment program have grown and evolved to meet community needs. YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
