The ACHIEVE vision is to be the leading regional resource and premier provider of comprehensive services to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

For more than 40 years, ACBC has assisted individuals with substance use disorders and their families in Broome, Chenango and Tioga counties. They provide medical services, family navigation, assessment, outpatient clinic, trauma specific interventions. With a comprehensive continuum of care, individualized treatment planning and caring staff, recovery is possible.

Area agency on aging

The Chenango County Area Agency on Aging advocates for, plans, and provides a coordinated system of services designed to help county residents 60 years of age and older remain independent, secure, and active in their community. Through information and education, we strive to foster public awareness of available resources and issues impacting senior citizens, their families, and caregivers.

Chenango SPCA

The mission of the Chenango SPCA is to provide and promote care, compassion, and respect for our animals and our community. They do this by providing shelter for animals in need. Chenango SPCA strives to make their shelter the best home it can be for the animals in their care, while working diligently to find each of them a loving forever home.

Chenango County Youth Bureau

The County Youth Bureau Mission is to provide youth and their families with opportunities to help them meet their needs for physical, social, moral and emotional growth. To accomplish our mission the County Youth Bureau funds an array of programs, based throughout the county. A list of contacts, for the programs listed, may be found on the Directory of Service Links page. Communities within Chenango county have formed joint recreation programs commission free of charge.

Catholic Charities provides a wide range of programs designed to support individuals and families in need. Their offerings include health home care management, counseling, peer-driven programs, and transportation services. They also provide residential services, mental health housing, developmental disabilities services, and specialized programs.

Crime Victims Assistance Center

CVAC maintains a mission to provide compassionate support, education, and advocacy to those affected by crime through offering services such as Legal Advocacy, Safe Harbour, Counseling, and 24-hour support. CVAC is a unique resource which offers a safe & welcoming environment for those who have been a victim of, or affected by crime. Our counselors and advocates provide free, trauma-informed supportive services with compassion to survivors.

Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference

The Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference partners with children, families and communities to inspire hope, develop skills and cultivate healthy relationships for positive futures. They envision a collaborative, caring community where children and families lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. The Children’s Home provides care for children and families by coordinating with schools and offering community programs in behavioral and emotional health, therapeutic intervention & clinical treatment, leadership & development, physical health & wellness, community outreach & civic engagement, and academic success & career readiness. The Southern Tier Community Center is a division of the Children’s Home and offers school age child care, a fitness center with classes, a gymnasium and a pool, space rental and teen nights.

The mission of the Chenango County Department of Social Services (DSS) is to ensure the provision of financial, medical and Family and Children’s Services necessary to assist eligible residents of Chenango County towards enhancing family functioning and to reduce or eliminate dependency.

Family enrichment network

Family Enrichment Network’s mission is to provide supportive services for the optimal development of children and families. Family Enrichment Network supports this mission by offering programs and services that helps parents with learning and growth opportunities for their children and families. Some programs and services offered are Head Start/Early Head Start, Special Education Services, Child Care Resources, Housing Services, and Family Support Services.

Food bank of the southern tier

Food Bank of the Southern Tier works to build and sustain hunger-free communities throughout the Southern Tier. They provide services to help individuals to find local food pantries or meal programs, offer a Mobile Food Pantry to deliver food to those in need, and provide community education programs that increase awareness of hunger in the Southern Tier.

The mission of Greater Opportunities is to educate, advocate, and empower individuals and families to improve the quality of their lives through the development of self-reliance, while promoting a culture of people working together to help themselves, one another, and their community. Greater Opportunities helps their surrounding communities with comprehensive services that include: emergency assistance, advocacy, early education, and safe and affordable housing. Greater Opportunities’ team works with our clients to help create the opportunities and programs that work for them as individuals.

The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) was founded in 1927 and is the oldest continuously operating Mental Health Association in New York State. MHAST is an affiliate of the Mental Health Association of New York State. MHAST is also a United Way agency. MHAST believes in the importance of mental health wellness and recovery and provides a variety of supportive programs to individuals and their families, including peer based services, and employees that have a shared or lived experience and can understand, engage, and relate to the challenges faced by individuals they support in their programs.

Mothers and Babies mission is to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes to support the health and development of all individuals and families. They provide education to our communities, connect individuals and families to health and other services, advocate for system improvements, and partner with other agencies, government and providers to strengthen families. Mothers and Babies focuses on every element of care, from the individual to the health care system to policymakers. Mothers and Babies philosophy is based on the concept that there are eight levels of intervention in community development to ensure successful prevention partnerships: Strengthening individual knowledge, Promoting community education, Educating providers, fostering coalitions and networks , Changing organizational practices, Influencing policy and legislation, Minimizing barriers, Ensuring that affordable and appropriate services are accessible to pregnant women, infants and all individuals and families, and Establishing public/private partnerships for coordinated community based care.

The Place, founded in 1983, is a nonprofit organization in Norwich, New York, dedicated to empowering the youth and families of Chenango County. Through a continuum of research-based programs, it prepares young individuals for college, career, and citizenship, fostering their potential as responsible, contributing members of society.

Rise is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and is committed to helping individuals rebuild their lives and empower them to rise above their circumstances. Since its founding in 1979 as a shelter for victims, the organization has grown significantly over the past 40 years. Today, Rise offers a range of services both within and outside of the shelter, including a safe place to stay, information on legal and court-related options, transportation, clothing, cell phones, food, and other community resources. They also provide therapeutic services through licensed social workers.

Roots & Wings is an emergency services and self-sufficiency program located in Norwich, offering vital support to individuals and families in need. The program provides resources such as food security, emergency housing, and prescription assistance, making it a unique asset in the county. Its goal is to serve as a "self-help center," addressing immediate needs while promoting long-term self-sufficiency. Services include a food pantry, thrift store, prescription assistance, SNAP pre-screening, the Food $ence program, and disaster relief.

sOUTHERN TIER INDEPENDENCE CENTER

The Southern Tier Independence Center offers assistance and programs to anyone who needs help living their life when they may be faced with a disability of any type. From community-based services, education, advocacy, independent housing, technology/equipment services to Medicaid/health insurance enrollment and behavioral and counseling services. All of the programs and services that STIC offers promote independence, inclusion and community integration.

Starlight’s mission is to help everyday Americans build toward financial health. They aim to do this by building technology that modernizes the social safety net, unlocking the $140B in government benefits that goes unclaimed every year for households in need. Starlight’s platform integrates directly with GHS FCU’s banking services, automatically identifying individuals eligible for public benefits and guide them through the application process while maintaining full privacy and consent.

UHS Hospital has one of the largest opioid treatment facilities in NY. Addiction medicine at UHS partners with other local hospitals, jails and other community organizations to train staff on how to deal with addiction and substance abuse. With direct access to medical personnel on staff they are able to prescribe medications to help those in need.

The United Way of Mid Rural New York seeks to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our region’s communities to advance the common good. United Way brings people together to build strong, equitable communities where everyone can thrive. Through United Way, communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic mobility, and health resources.
