adaptive sports foundation
ASF is a non-profit organization that provides profound and life changing experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities and chronic illnesses through outdoor physical activity, education, support, and community. Since 1984, the Adaptive Sports Foundation has been providing sports and recreation opportunities to thousands of children and adults with both cognitive and physical disabilities. Considered one of the top adaptive sports programs in the country, the ASF has been on the cutting edge of adaptive sports programming and has provided what participants have often described as “life changing experiences.”
Office of aging services
The goal of the Office of Aging Services is to ensure a network of supportive services to assist Greene County’s senior citizens (those age 60 and older) to maintain their dignity and independence within their communities. They assist adults 60 and older in maintaining and/or improving their social, economic, health, safety and nutritional status. Their mission is to ensure older adults stay independent for as long as possible and have a network of supportive services in the county.
Capital District YMCA
The Capital District YMCA supports, engages, and strengthens the Capital Region community through programs and partnerships focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
CARES of NY Inc
Cares of NY Inc. is a non-profit organization that empowers communities to end homelessness through community planning, program data, supportive housing, and awareness-building.
Catholic Charities of Columbia and Greene Counties
Catholic Charities of Columbia and Greene Counties serves, empowers, and advocates to all persons in our community regardless of race, creed, lifestyle choice, or religious affiliation with special emphasis on the poor and vulnerable. Catholic Charities provided assistance to close to 5,000 people in Columbia and Greene Counties in 2023. They are one of many agencies of the Diocese of Albany which encompasses 14 counties. The creation of local agencies allows service and programs to be tailored to the needs of the communities within the framework of vast resources of knowledge and support to draw upon.
Columbia-Greene Housing Coalition
The Columbia Greene Housing Coalition Continuum of Care (CGHC CoC) is a two county collaborative which partners with local community members and organizations to end homelessness through a comprehensive planning and assessment process which engages and educates county residents on the housing needs of our most vulnerable populations.
Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA
CGHS/SPCA is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization founded in 1955 by Ella Merle and her daughter Dede Kline, who rose to an auspicious challenge of helping animals who had fallen through the cracks of society in Columbia County. Through their dedication and exhaustive efforts, one small building with five dog kennels has today become a multi-faceted animal welfare organization holding up to sixty dogs and one hundred cats. Over the last six decades CGHS/SPCA has expanded its services in the community to include low-cost veterinary services (serving more than two thousand animals each year), food bank (providing 50,000 pounds of free food annually to families in need), stray dog housing, assisting law enforcement with cruelty cases, community outreach, and humane education.
Community Action of Greene County
Community Action of Greene County, Inc. is dedicated to community wellness and betterment through a wide variety of programs and services. Their resources are diverse, ranging from income tax preparation assistance to domestic violence intervention and supportive housing. They strive to improve the lives of low-income citizens and their families, helping them on the path to self-sufficiency so that they may achieve their full potential.
Greene County Department of Human Services
The Department for Human Services serves Greene County’s Department of Aging, Veterans Service Agency and Youth Bureau.
Regional Food Bank
The Regional Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that collects donated food from the food industry and distributes it to more than 1,000 partner agencies and programs feeding neighbors in need throughout 23 counties of northeastern New York. The food provided by the Regional Food Bank helps to feed over 350,000 people each month. In 2024, the Food Bank distributed more than 54 million pounds of food (enough for 45 million meals) to neighbors in need. The Regional Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, the national network of food banks.
United Way of Greene County
The United Way changes lives throughout Greene County by identifying community needs, supporting the services that meet those needs and providing results to residents. These programs offer solutions to critical county issues, including supporting seniors, health and wellness, emergency assistance and investing in the education of Greene County youth.

Starlight’s mission is to help everyday Americans build toward financial health. They aim to do this by building technology that modernizes the social safety net, unlocking the $140B in government benefits that goes unclaimed every year for households in need. Starlight’s platform integrates directly with GHS FCU’s banking services, automatically identifying individuals eligible for public benefits and guide them through the application process while maintaining full privacy and consent.
