Action Toward Independence promotes the independence, inclusion, participation, and personal choice of individuals with disabilities. Action Toward Independence advances the independent living philosophy and advocates for the legal and civil rights of individuals with disabilities. They offer a variety of services and programs that are available to the men, women and children in the community that live with disabilities. Services and programs include, but are not limited to: mental health peer support, veterans' advocacy, educational support, benefits advisement, skills training, and more.

Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley

The Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley Chapter serves seven counties in New York, including Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester. They have offices in Poughkeepsie and Purchase. They provide education and support, advocate for the needs and rights of those facing dementia, and advance critical research to develop new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Astor Services for Children & Families

Astor Services for Children & Families promotes the well-being of children, adolescents and their families through a range of programs located throughout the Hudson Valley region. These program are in-home, community-based, and site-based programs. No one will be denied access to service due to inability to pay, and a discounted/sliding fee schedule is available based on family size and income.

Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club enables all young people, especially those who need support most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. They carve out time, space, and attention for nearly 2,000 local kids annually by offering a safe place to learn and programs to help them grow into kind, confident, and capable members of the community. They have offered before and after school programs to support the learning, altruism, and achievement of students in the community for since 1993.

CHAMP

The Community Health Access to Addiction and Mental Healthcare Project (CHAMP), is New York State’s independent health insurance ombudsman program for substance use disorder and mental health care. They are a joint program of the New York Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and Office of Mental Health (OMH). CHAMP’s goal is to remove insurance barriers to lifesaving treatment. They do this through direct assistance, outreach, and education.

Cornerstone Family Healthcare offers high-quality, primary and preventative medical, dental and behavioral health services for all people. The Center for Recovery, located at 3 Commercial Place in Newburgh, offers additional chemical dependency and opioid treatment programs (Methadone, Vivitrol and Suboxone) to help individuals maintain sobriety in a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment. Day and evening outpatient programs allow individuals to keep their daily work schedule while making life with addiction more stable and easier to manage.

Keep it Moving

Keep It Moving has the mission to provide young people with the opportunity to engage in healthy, life-affirming activities. They fill the gap for young people with the desire to engage in a sport, music, or academic endeavor but do not have the financial means to do so. Over the past five years they have led several compassion projects to help fulfill that mission. They are also dedicated to having Narcan, the life-saving drug that reverses opioid overdose, in every purse, backpack, and first-aid kit. They provide on-the-spot Narcan training for the community when and where it is needed, whether on the street, in a religious organization, living room, or in a parking lot.

The mission of LVSC is to foster and enhance adult and family literacy through the efforts of a corps of trained volunteer tutors, and paid teachers who assist adults functioning at the lowest literacy levels. Mobile Mental Health Hotline

Mobile Mental Health Hotline is the only one of its kind in Sullivan County. The Arc Greater Hudson Valley offers a FREE “Children’s Mobile Crisis Intervention” service in the Sullivan County area. The program, created for children under 18, is designed to assist a parent or guardian in need of an intervention during a time of crisis.

Regional Food Bank

The Regional Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that collects donated food from the food industry and distributes it to more than 1,000 partner agencies and programs feeding neighbors in need throughout 23 counties of northeastern New York. The food provided by the Regional Food Bank helps to feed over 350,000 people each month. In 2024, the Food Bank distributed more than 54 million pounds of food (enough for 45 million meals) to neighbors in need. The Regional Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, the national network of food banks.

Rural and Migrant Ministry

Spark Rural Worker Education Center in South Fallsburg is located in Sullivan County, one of the most marginalized counties in New York. Spark was given its name by members of the Youth Econcomic Group who wanted to have a center that would be the “spark for change” in the Catskills. Spark is home to the Youth Economic Group, Bags For Justice (youth screen-printing cooperative), Cociendo Culturas: Crafting Cultures (adult artisan cooperative), Youth Entrepreneurship Symposium and monthly community check-ins. Spark also serves as a gathering place for workers from the food processing plants that dot the landscape.

The Joseph Dwyer Program is a 100% confidential and free program that covers NY State.
