Jason Aurelio, Chairperson
Jason Aurelio has spent his lifetime working and volunteering in the Broome County community. Born and raised in Greater Binghamton, Jason graduated from Chenango Valley High School in 2006. Jason went on to study business at both SUNY Broome and Binghamton University’s School of Management. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Jason is the General Manager of Sentry Alarms. Sentry Alarms is the premier provider of security solutions in the Southern Tier. Outside of his full-time management role, Jason volunteers on a variety of local Boards. He is the Treasurer for the New York Electronic and Life Safety Association, President of the Hillcrest Rotary Club, and serves on the boards for both the Fenton Free Library, and the Town of Fenton. Jason is the past president of the local BNI (Business Networking International) chapter, former Board of Education Member for Chenango Valley Central School District, and previous volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement.
Jason is married to his high school sweetheart, Katelyn, and resides in Hillcrest with their daughter, Evelyn, and son, Elliot. In his free time, Jason enjoys playing golf, cooking homemade Italian cuisine, and fishing on the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands.
Leonard Lindenmuth, DHA, Vice Chairperson
Dr. Lindenmuth has served on the GHS Board of Directors since 2003. He served as chairperson of the board for several years, prior to his current role as Vice Chair. Dr.
Lindenmuth was the President/CEO of HealthLogic, Inc. of Binghamton for more than 11 years. Dr. Lindenmuth is involved in various charitable organizations and committees in the Greater Binghamton area. Since 2014, Dr. Lindenmuth serves as the Vice President of Strategy and Population Health at the Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown, NY, a large fully integrated healthcare system.
Brandon Sunderlin, CPA – Treasurer
Brandon Sunderlin, CPA joined the GHS Board of Directors in 2020. Brandon also serves as the GHS Board / Supervisory Committee Liaison. Brandon is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. where he served as an infantryman during numerous combat operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a partner in the accounting firm Johnson, Lauder & Savidge, LLP and joined the firm after working for the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He is a graduate of Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting. He is a member of both the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Brandon has served in various capacities within the Southern Tier Chapter of the NYSSCPA and is a past president of the chapter. He has taken an active role in the community and has previously served local not-for-profit organizations in various capacities. In his free time, Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, and three sons.
Nathan VanWhy, Esq., Secretary
Mr. VanWhy joined the GHS Board of Directors in May 2021. He is a partner with the law firm Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP, practicing in the firm’s Business & Banking and Public, Municipal & Education Law departments. He represents and advises business, non-profit, and municipal clients on a diverse array of legal concerns, including borrowings, Article 78 proceedings, corporate and municipal governance issues, zoning and planning matters, procurements, purchase and sales, buy/sells, succession planning, capital construction projects, and legal and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Coughlin & Gerhart, Mr. VanWhy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY Fredonia and his juris doctorate from Albany Law School. He is actively engaged in the community, having attended the Broome Leadership Institute and served on the Board of Directors for Life is Washable, Inc. (The Magic Paintbrush). He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the BLI Alumni Association, and is a member of the local chapter of the Business Networking Institute, the Broome County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Southern Tier Young Professionals. He and his wife, Jessica, live on Binghamton’s Westside, with their dog, cat, and newborn daughter.
Julie has been with Automatic Data Processing for 7 years. ADP serves more than 625,000 businesses of all types and sizes in over 130 countries. She is currently responsible for expanding ADP’s PEO footprint throughout Upstate NY, helping ownership and C-Levels lower their employee total cost of ownership – by providing data-driven consultation that equips companies to better manage their workforce throughout all aspects of the employee life-cycle. Julie graduated from Tioga Central HS in 2008 and from Binghamton University SOM in 2012, where she played volleyball. In March of 2022 her and her boyfriend opened Common Soil Juicery on the Southside of Binghamton that serves raw, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and bowls. currently resides in Owego where she is renovating her first home and spends any additional spare time with her first nephew, David, cooking, and participating in any number of athletic activities. Julie is also a member of the Binghamton Bearcats Athletics Association and is the color commentator for BU Volleyball games broadcast on ESPN3.
Scott Cohen, MD
Scott Cohen, MD joined the GHS Board of Directors in 2019. Dr. Cohen has been a Family Physician with Bassett Healthcare Network since June of 2000 and the Network Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) since 2013. Dr. Cohen is dual-boarded in both Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics, and sees hospitalized and ambulatory patients as well as performs administrative roles throughout the Bassett Network. Dr. Cohen chairs several Bassett committees in addition to serving on the boards of At Home Care (Home health agency) and HIXNY, a NY State Health Information Exchange. Dr. Cohen is passionate about driving growth and innovation as well as large project /change management and relationship development. In his spare time, Dr. Cohen enjoys cycling, home remodeling and snowshoeing, as well as volunteering as a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary.)
Ben Giordano, Chairperson
Ben Giordano is a Binghamton, NY native who went on to get a BS in Marketing Management at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2008. Throughout his professional career Ben has been involved in many technology-focused businesses including management consulting, internet and data marketing, and digital agency services. In 2011 Ben founded FreshySites – Website Design. Since inception, FreshySites has grown exponentially into the largest WordPress focused web design agency on the east coast. Ben’s obsession with customer service and support, WordPress best practices, and process-driven design continues to flow through the whole FreshySites team. When Ben is not with the FreshySites Team you can usually find him hanging out with his wife and four children in Upstate NY
